Wickford Appliance: Disappointing Service, Poor Follow-Through, and Two Major Appliance Failures
My experience with Wickford Appliance has been extremely disappointing.
On May 23, 2025, I purchased both a Bosch refrigerator and a Zephyr refrigerator from Wickford Appliance. Unfortunately, both appliances have experienced significant problems.
The Bosch refrigerator was plagued with issues from the beginning, including an ice maker that never functioned properly and freezer performance problems. After numerous service calls, a technician finally discovered that the freezer basket had been installed backwards, a freezer rail track was broken, and the freezer door gasket had deteriorated. These issues appear to have contributed to the ongoing failures that should have been identified much earlier.
What made the situation even more frustrating was Wickford Appliance’s handling of the warranty process. I was told that warranty coverage could be affected because I had not replaced the water filter cartridge after six months, despite there being no indicator on the refrigerator advising when replacement was necessary. Rather than focusing on solving the refrigerator’s problems, the conversation became centered on the filter. I was later presented with a bill exceeding $5,300, which felt completely unreasonable given the history of unresolved issues.
Now, just over one year after purchase, the Zephyr refrigerator purchased the same day has completely stopped working. The unit suddenly became unresponsive and lost cooling. At this point, I am so frustrated by my previous experience that I was reluctant to even contact Wickford Appliance for assistance. Instead, I contacted Zephyr directly and am currently waiting for service.
When customers spend thousands of dollars on premium appliances, they expect knowledgeable support, fair treatment, and proactive service. Instead, I have experienced repeated appliance failures, inconsistent communication, and a lack of confidence that problems will be handled fairly and efficiently.
I understand that manufacturers can produce defective products. What separates a great appliance dealer from an average one is how they support customers when problems arise. Unfortunately, my experience with Wickford Appliance has left me with little confidence in their service department and little desire to purchase appliances from them again.
