In July of 2025 we were in the midst of a move and needed to purchase a washer and dryer.
Because we had made purchases from Whitco in Spencer in the past and had good experiences with our purchases we went on line and picked out a Maytag washer and dryer at Whitco and then made a call to make the purchase.
Everything was delivered and we were happy with our new appliances.
In February of 2026 our dryer started making a noise when using it. It sounded like something was loose in the tub. My husband checked out the inside of the tub and could not find anything.
We called the Maytag # that was listed in our manual for repairs (we were under a 1 yr. Warranty) and an order was created for someone to come to look at our dryer on April 27, 2026 from 8-4p.m. from an Appliance repair shop in W. Springfield, Ma. We were told someone would call the day before the 27th to confirm the visit and also give us a smaller window of time for the visit.
We stayed home all day--no one called or came.
When I tried getting back to the Maytag # and also the Appliance Repair shop all I got was a run around and was not able to get anywhere trying to book another repair date.
I finally called the owner, Bill, at Whitco and explained to him what had happened.
He called the Appliance Repair shop in W. Springfield himself and booked another date for us.
The same thing happened that had happened before. No one called and no one came to repair our dryer.
Bill at Whitco told us when he booked the 2nd appt. for us that if we didn't hear back from the Appliance repair shop to call him and let him know and he was going to deliver a new dryer to us.
A new dryer was delivered to our home yesterday, 6/15/2026.
The two men who delivered the dryer hooked up the new one and took the noisy one back with them.
We are especially thankful to Bill at Whitco for helping us with this issue and are hoping we don't have any more problems with our Maytag appliances as the company does not stand by their agreements. Sharron and Charlie Lamothe
